wonderous thoughts

It was the first period of the day on Monday morning at Untalan Middle School, when the principal and a few staff members walked in random classes for a random search.  Students were searched because over the weekend our school was vandalized. The principal and the staff members doing the search made us empty our bags, and our pockets. Many items such as permanent markers, liquid white outs, and electronic devices were confiscated from the students. All the students that had confiscated items were referred to the pupil personnel office.

Students sent to PPO had to sit outside until all students referred to the office arrived. There were four girls from my first period that were reported, but there were a lot more people from other classes. All sixth, seventh, and eighth graders were searched. Most students I talked to in the office were afraid of getting suspended. All the students who were referred for having electronic devices were talked to with our principal Mrs. Taitingfong. When she was done she talked to the students that were referred for white out, permanent makers. Everyone got a warning and are now aware of what is not allowed in school.

With the schedule changes I didn’t really experience a big change. I think the hardest thing would be to catch up with the work you missed. The thing that would really affect a person would be to do all the work and make good grades in one class, and would have to start all over. I think the biggest change was getting new students and getting used to working with them. In most of my classes I had a lot of friends, but through the new schedules most of my friends were switched to other teams. In most of my classes I had a lot of students, after the schedules changed some of my classes got smaller, some got bigger, and some just stayed the same.

  There are many dangers for minors on the computer.  One of the dangers is chatting with people you don’t know. Chatting with people you don’t know can lead to being kidnapped, or be watched by people you don’t know. Not only chatting with people, but entering information on the internet that is  connected world wide. Minors can protect themselves by being careful with information they post online, and chatting with people you know. Schools could block unimportant and unnecessary sites needed on  computer, and make rules and they must be signed in order to access internet in school.

  On Wednesday and Thursday Untalan held an assembly for the candidates for SBA (Student Body Association). There were about three or four people running for each position. The competition seems really tough, because by the sound of the crowd every candidate had a lot of support.  The candidates were really enthusiastic and looks like they put a lot of time into preparing for their speeches.  Before the candidates gave their speeches Mrs. San Nicolas gave a lecture on rules of the school, and disciplinary actions that would be taken if rules are not followed.

  The candidates running for president, vice-president, secretary, treasure, and sergeant at arms were  really strong and confident while presenting their speeches.  They really for the eighth grade spirit, well at least that’s what I saw. From sixth and seventh grade i wouldn’t exactly know how much spirit, and support they showed because I wasn’t there to see or hear for myself. But from what i heard they gave loud cheers, and seemed interested. From eighth grade each team gave a lot of cheer and support to all the candidates which. I wish luck to all, and I hope for the best in our leaders.

My favorite websites are myspace and youtube. I like going on myspace because it is a way I keep in touch with my friends and family that aren’t on island. I also like to design my own website and make it creative. I also enjoy going on youtube. I like to watch music videos and funny videos. The thing I enjoy the most  about youtube is that there are so many different videos for what you are looking for. Some funny, boring, scary, and interesting. When I log onto the internet the first thing I do is check my myspace, and do my homework on the internet is needed.  When i have spare time i upload pictures on the photobucket so I can open up pictures on any computer.

The thing I enjoy reading the most is about the sports and the horoscopes. I enjoy reading about sports because one i play sports, and two I like reading about what teams play, what sport they play, and what was the outcome of the game. Also because I have a lot of family that play sports and I like to check how they did if I don’t get the chance to see the game for myself. I also like reading my horoscope because in some ways it helps me start my day, and when I read it, it somehow makes me change and build my self confidence. I don’t only enjoy reading about my horoscope I also enjoy reading other friends and relatives horoscope. One thing that would make the newspaper more interesting is if they write more about schools and what really going on in school. Comics are also a part of the newspaper i enjoy reading. it gives a little smile to my day and gives a little laugh with it. Also because I like writing when I’m older I would like to be able to publish my writing.
