Random Search
September 25, 2007 — jeanae13It was the first period of the day on Monday morning at Untalan Middle School, when the principal and a few staff members walked in random classes for a random search. Students were searched because over the weekend our school was vandalized. The principal and the staff members doing the search made us empty our bags, and our pockets. Many items such as permanent markers, liquid white outs, and electronic devices were confiscated from the students. All the students that had confiscated items were referred to the pupil personnel office.
Students sent to PPO had to sit outside until all students referred to the office arrived. There were four girls from my first period that were reported, but there were a lot more people from other classes. All sixth, seventh, and eighth graders were searched. Most students I talked to in the office were afraid of getting suspended. All the students who were referred for having electronic devices were talked to with our principal Mrs. Taitingfong. When she was done she talked to the students that were referred for white out, permanent makers. Everyone got a warning and are now aware of what is not allowed in school.
