Life and School goals.

Since I knew what goals were, from my parents and in school, I had made many. I have made many goals each day. Some of the goals that I have made have been accomplished, while some are still in the process of being accomplish. I have chosen two of my biggest goals to examine. One goal that has been accomplished, and the other that is still in the process of being accomplished. The two goals I have chosen is one: To be a lawyer. The other goal I have chosen is to playing every sport I could, and doing my best in it.

First off, I would like to examine my goal to be a lawyer. Since I knew what a job was, I had always said I wanted to be a lawyer. I know that sometimes plans change, when you realize how hard it is to get there. But for me, it’s not about how hard it is. If I set a goal, next thing to do is start learing how to reach it. Everyday, I find more and more ways and reasons to not change that goal, and to reach it. First, I have to finish high school, not only finish school. I must finish school with using every last thing I know to make good grades. Next, I must attend a college. My plan for college is Iowa University. Finally, study hard in college, and reach my dream of wanting to be a lawyer. I know that it is gonna be rough, and sometimes feel to tough, but with the help and support of my family that has brought me to where I am now, I know that I can be anything i desire.

As for my goal of joining all sports I could, and trying my best at it, has been accomplished. Though it has been accomplished, it can still be looked at as in the process as well. It has been accomplished again, thanks to the support of my family, most especially my dad. It all started when I was sixth grade, and I had sports in my school. I always watched kids play, but I was never allowed to play sports. When I moved back to the states, my dad being an athlete himself, gave me the courage and confidence to join sports. The first sport I played was soccer. Soccer was something I felt good at. What made me stronger and succeed, was first my dad always giving me the courage to go to practice to be better. Then my family, who I saw at every game always encouraging me and cheering me on. Finally, myself, for not giving up, and not letting anyone or anything bring me down. Sports, is one of the many things that I enjoy doing, and effects my personality, and my outlook on my future on life. I do see myself being older and still enjoying sports.

To sum it all up, I am the person who sets goals, and does everything to reach it. In other words, I am not the person to give up. I have many reasons to keep going, and theres nothing stopping me. After all, I have learned that family, support, self-confidence, and a great personality are just a few of the biggest thing it takes to succeed in a goal. As for my goals, my life goals and school goals all come into one. I see it as one big goal, because in life, you learn all about it through school, and school is what prepares you for life. Finally, I have come to realize that everyday, I am doing everything I could, to reach my goal, which is to  become a lawyer. Like I had mentioned early, theres nothing stopping me.

Journal entry #21

Middle school in my eyes is some of the best few years of school. Between sixth and eighth grade many things changed and many things remained the same. I am going to be comparing and contrasting life from sixth grade to eighth grade, since it is my last year in middle school. I have faced many challenges throughout my middle school years, but as I look back on it now, I realized that is has all payed off. I can also say that I have succeeded through my middle school years with the help and support of my family.

In my middle schools many things were different, at each point. Between all grades one of the differences I look at now is how for each grade I attended a different schoool. For sixth grade I attended Bishop. Next, I left to Illinois and attended Marlowe Middle school for seventh grade. Finally, I am ending my middle school years attending Untalan Middle school. Another difference I have faced throughout middle school is the work. In sixth grade things seeme so easy. As I got to seventh grade it seemed tough, but I made it through. However, eighth grade was nothing  compared to what I thought was tough in seventh grade, it was much harder. Another differences I have noticed is how in sixth and eighth grade I rode the bus, but in seventh grade I rode the bus or walked to school. The last thing that I realized was different is the feeling i felt during the time. In sixth grade I was new to school, and I felt like I was starting back in kinder. As well as seventh grade, I was just in the middle and I still felt like the little one. Finally, eighth grade came, and from what I have experienced and learned, I feel so much older and ready for high school. My last difference, that I have just noticed changed, is that I made many friends I will always remember, and there were people I called friends, that weren’t really friends.

Aside of the differences that went on through my middle school years, some things remained the same. One of the biggest things I see remained the same is how I played sports in seventh grade, as well as eighth grade. Another thing that was remained the same is how every step of the way I get support from my family, similarly how my friends support me. One of the biggest thing that has remained the same is how every year has its tough point, I always manage to find a way to succeed. One similarity that has stood out through all my years, is how I have always managed to come in principles list, or high honors. In other words, it has given me the confidence to be anything. Finally, another one of the biggest things that has remained the same, is how every new year, I use what I have learned from the previous years to help me in my current year.

In conclusion I have come to remember that in each grade I always sat in class wondering when the school year would end. Come to realize, that each school year was just another building of confidence, an extension to the education, and the test to see if you are willing to do anything it takes to succeed. As I had mentioned, seventh and eighth grade I got the chance to be in sports all year long. Being in sports has changed my attitude. Before, I didn’t enjoy working in groups as much, and wasn’t into making new friends everyday. Then, when I joined sports, it made me learn to work with others, and get along with other. Throughout the years of middle school, my personality has changed a whole lot. To start out with sixth grade, I was still a bit immature because im fresh out of elementary, I didn’t know much. Then seventh grade, I was getting the whole feeling of being in middle school, but even at that I changed from liking boys, to learning that just little things we wont realize until we get older. Finally, eighth grade I realized that I became more matture. I took more time to do homework, then just wanting to play outside. I took more effort in trying, then just giving up and asking a friend to borrow their paper. Now, that my middle school years our at its end, I have done so much to prepare for high school, and the reality ill be facing.

Everyday, we see new people.  Many people may seem similiar by physical features, but people are different in there own ways.  Some people may talk the same and enjoy doing the same things as another person, but there is always something special about someone.  I have found out about the differences and similarities about my two friends Pathya H.  and Darian C.

In my eyes of course i see the obvious that they are both girls and they attend Untalan Middle School.  What I have done is found out things that make them different from eachother that wouldnt be known unless you get to know them.   Pathya and Darian, are both girls, However they enjoy doing things diffrently.  I have found out that Pathyas favorite place to be is outside of school.  As for Darian, her favorite place to be is in school Although, Pathyas favorite subject is social studies, Darians favorite subject is math.  Because they may both appeal to be girls , they have added what they think is there best physical feature.  Darian says that she thinks her best physical feature would have to be her smile, on the other hand, Pathya thinks that her best physical feature is her curly hair, added to what makes them diffrent is if Darian could go anywhere in this world she would chose to visit Europe.  As for Pathya she would liketo visit Hawaii because she wants to visit the beaches and learn how to surf.

As it has been mentioned above, they are diffrent in many ways.  Now, I am going to describe ways in which  Pathya and Darian are similiar.  One of te biggest things that makes them similiar would be the person who inspires them the most.  Pathya say that she is inspired by her dad, because hes always for her.  Also, Darian says that her dad inspires her the most, for the same reason.  The similiar physical feature tat Pathya and Darian is that they both have dark brown eyes.  Another obvious similarity would be they both attend Untalan Middle School and are representatives of 8A lions. Mostly, everyone enjoys playing sports, as for Pathya and Darian they both enjoy playing VolleyBall.  The last thing that I’ve found out makes them alike is Pathya would rather be at the beach,  likewise Darian would prefer beach over a pool.

In my eyes, Darian and Pathya are people i consider friends.  That being said,  I thought without asking them,  I would know what makes them diffrent and similiar I choose not to mention all the obvious, and get to know the inside of them, and what makes them unique.  All the things I found out makes them diffrent from eachother, are things that set them apart from everybody.  They each have they’re own way of seeing things from diffrent point of views.  Also they have certain opinions about certain thing.  Things that i found out make them alike are things that are pretty intresting.  What intrested me, in ways they’re alike, is how they’re dads inspire them the most, well after talking to them, and getting to know them more, I’ve realized that many people are unique and special in they’re own way.  Accepting people for their flaws and strengths is what makes you a great person yourself, and what makes you special.

Evaluate your classmates’ presentation. Describe what makes an excellent presentation. Use Examples (2 paragraphs)

An excellent presentation must consist of two main things. One is an excellent speaker. An excellent speaker is a person with a loud voice, acts as if they know what there talking about, or in other words not showing if or not nervous. Another thing that provides an excellent presentation is whatever is being presented is clear, and able to understood. Without a good speaker, with a loud clear voice, it would be hard for the listeners to understand, or hear what is being taught or showed. Also, another thing that would help with an excellent presentation would be to keep your listeners interested in what you are presenting. In other words, dont make your presentation to long, or talk about things that you know wouldn’t interest your listeners, and are not important information to know.

In my classmates’ presentation I was observing the volume of their voice, and the way they presented their powerpoint. Some students like Alana and Taylor had a really good presentation. They both required alot of useful information, and had a good, loud, clear voice. Some students presentation like Vannalyn, had good information as seen in her powerpoint, but while presenting it to the class, she seemed a little nervous, and some of us in the back of the class didn’t hear some things she was trying to add to her presentation. Overall, all the students that presented their powerpoint provided good information, and interesting pictures.

Describe how you have researched on your project. What were some interesting information that you found? What difficulties did you have in searching for information?

Researching for my project, I could say was fun. It was fun to me because I researched on a topic that really interest me. I first decided to research on soccer because it is one of my all time favorite sports. Later, I decided to research on butterflies. I chose butterflies over soccer, because I know alot more about soccer, than I do about butterflies. Also, because I have had a lot of interest in butterflies for a long time, but never took the time to learn about them.

There was so much information I found about butterflies. Some of the information that I researched was surprising, and some were random. One information that interested me, was getting to know how butterflies obtain their color. I thought that it just comes randomly, but I found out that it doesn’t. Also, that butterflies have many similarities to moths. There was one site that I visited, that provided so much information on there differences and similarites. I spent most of my time researching on that site, rather than going to other sites.

There was a few difficulties that I faced during my research. One of the difficulites was finding specific information. I was searching for what colors are more often found on the wings of butterflies. All the sites kept giving me was how it obtains its color. Also some sites that I was trying to visit, was being blocked on my computer. Even with a few difficulties, I still managed to find out many interesting things about butterflies, and complete my project.

My New Year Resolution. 2008

What are your new years resolutions? How will you accomplish them, and what extrisic and intrisic effect will they have?

This year its 2008. That means its time for people to make changes and be better.  Since its my last year in middle school, and a fresh start in high school, my resolutions are mainly because of my education and daily life at home.  My resolutions for this year are: Get a GPA of 95% or above by the end of my eigth grade year, and my freshman year, to be more respectful and caring to my mom and sister, and enjoy life and be happy.

My New Years resolution to get a GPA of 95% or above by the end of my eigth grade year, and during freshamn year is something i really believe i can do. The reason I want to do this is to start doing better and trying hard so i could get into a good college.  I always wanted to be a lawyer, so since i was in elementary ive been wroking hard to achieve that. Teachers always say start out young, and when you reach high school you should strive your best. I believe that once you know what you want to do in life, is when you should start doing your best in whatever you do.

working with the handhelds

Describe your experience with handhelds. What were the most interesting aspects? How can your experience be better (education wise)? 2 paragraphs Working with the handhelds, was a fun learning experience. Working with the handhelds, expanded our resources of learning and teaching, instead of just through books. It taught me alot about technology, and the different things that could be done in learning through it. I learned about new softwares in which could help me in school work. The most interesting aspects of working with the handhelds is using programs that can do different things I didn’t know exsist. I enjoyed learning the new games that are both educational and fun. There were programs that helped get work done faster. The thing that interested me the most was how beaming was part of working with the handheld. Beaming information to eachother was a good was of learning to work with others and share information that is helpful. My experience would be better with the handhelds if there were more programs that could be used it learning. Programs that would help with getting work done faster and more efficient would also help. Interent connection would also be another way that the learning experience with the handhelds would have been fun. Overall working my experience with the handheld for the first time was good and educational.

cyber-bullying research

Cyber-bullying Research Guide
Directions
Read the four website articles.  Follow the outline below to help you take notes and write your composition.
I. Introduction- your thoughts and experiences (or those of others) on bullying.
The article from Online Bullying Compels State Acts, had made me  realize that bullying is happening everywhere, and anytime of the day, to everyone. Bullying, especially cyber-bullying wasn’t a big deal to me. I never knew there was such thing as cyber-bullying, and I never knew it happend until today from reading the articles. After reading the article from MSNBC it has  made me more aware, of the dangers that don’t only happen face to face with people you see everyday, but with people around the world. From reading the article Suicide Victim and the town that turned on her Cyber-bullying really made me think about what I could do to at least help out people I know that are being cyber-bullied, and to talk people out of it that are cyber-bullies.

II.  What is cyber-bullying?
After reading all four articles I  have come to find out that cyber-bullying is being bullied through online, such as e-mails, blogs, and even text messages saying bad things about someone. Cyber-bully can be in any form in which someone is being not face to face, or is bullying anonymously.

III.  What are the effects of cyber-bullying?
According to the article Suicide Victim and the town that turns on her cyber-bullying it has shown the biggest effect of cyber-bullying, which is suicide. How Parents can stamp out cyber-bullying, was a really educational and informative article. Effects it may have is causing people to hurt themselves, take it out on others, and do it to others. The bad thing about cyber-bullying is the people doing it don’t always get caught.

IV.  How can cyber-bullying be prevented?  The article How parents can stamp out cyber-bullying, provided many ways parents can prervent their children from being cyber-bullied. One of the many ways is by talkling to their children about information that should not be displayed on websites, and about not entering sites that require personal information. It can also be prevented by not talking,or chatting with people you do not know. It is safe not to meet new people and to provide personal information to people through the internet. It is not safe to send personal information through e-mails either, because some people out there can access your e-mail and you wouldn’t even know.

V.  Conclusion
-  What were the most interesting things youնe learned about cyber-bullying? Summarize what you wrote in the 2nd to 4th paragraphs.

All the  paragraphs have provided me information on ways to prevent cyber-bullying, and the things that haave occured from it. I’ve learned that cyber-bullying happens to almost everyone. There are so many sites and ways for c.yber-bullying to occur.  One of the ways I learned to prevent cyber-bullying is to be cautious of the information you provide on the internet, and the sites you visit. I’ve come to realize that cyber-bullying doesn’t occur because someone doesn’t like you, or you did something bad to them. It can happen to anyone, at anytime, for no reason. Cyber-bullying has big effects, and the worst thing about it,is the .people doing it can be anywhere in this world, and can somehow not get caught. After reading the articles i think that cyber-bullying should have big consequences. Cyber-bullying is happening on one thing, the computer, but causes big trouble.

recycling reasearch

Recycling Conclusions Shaelene Perez In our class we are doing research in recycling. We all put together a KWL chart to gather all our thoughts. When we all completed our charts we shared our information with eachother to create a conclusion. My classmates and I have come to know that recycling is one big way to help keep our world cleaner and healthier. Here on our island we all know that schools and other buildings, place recycle bins for people to drop off their recycled items. Some students have noticed the different items that are being recycled. Some of the items include cans, empty bottles, paper, & wood. We all have known that recycled items are remade into new items. After sharing our thoughts of what we know, there were also things we didn't know. I always wondered what are all the types of items that can be recycled, and the benefits of recycling them. Some students were wondering what is the process of recycling, and if it helps prevent global warming. Other students wanted to know things that could be made out of recycled items. At the end of all our research and discussion we all learned something new from eachother. We gained knowledge about what we didn't know, and also got a chance to teach eachother things that other didn't know. Many students agreee that recycling would make us live in a cleaner and better environment. I've learned that there are many types of items that could be recycled such as: glass jars, paper, aluminum cans, wood, & many other items. An item I learned could be recycled and is for good use is wood. Wood could be used to make mail boxes, & bird houses. Recycling keeps the world cleaner instead of burning trash and polluting the air. Recycling can not only benefit a few people, but everyone else around you. Recycling may not be a big concern now, but soon people will soon see the benefit if we all took part in it.
